KA Malu ʻulu o lele

Restoring the ʻulu trees of Lāhainā: A Story of Hope

Project Kanu will support the long-term reforestation of Lāhainā in the wake of the devastating August 8, 2023, fires. Donations directed towards this project will bolster grassroots initiatives aimed at restoring Ka Malu ʻUlu o Lele, renowned as the historic breadfruit belt of Lele, the former name of Lāhainā during its tenure as the political capital of Hawaiʻi.

We approach this endeavor with a deep sense of aloha, mindfully listening to the voices of Lāhaina's residents and valuing the guidance offered by our ʻohana mahiʻai on Maui. In concert with our dedicated partners and experts committed to the perpetuation of ʻulu cultivation and Polynesian agroforestry, we collectively navigate the path ahead, steadfast in our efforts to support this longterm journey towards recovery.

*100% of proceeds will be directed to this project.
